Sing, Feel, Move, Play

is a course for 2.5 – 4 year olds and their carer.
My aim is to create a non-judgemental environment- open for the children to explore and let their body react to music and to find their own voice. This is a great time of play, where children start to experiment and differentiate.
The whole body is involved with this multi sensory approach. Just as with language, we will play with music- improvising, playing games, singing together, sometimes using props other times using our bodies.
Whilst playing we develop musical skills working on pitch, rhythm, pulse, modes, ear-body coordination but also developing the children’s motor, cognitive and social skills.
When and where are the classes?
Fridays: 16.10-16.55 @ The Little Music Den, Mantlergasse 1130. ( 6 mins on foot from Ober St Veit)

So what does a session look like?
We will start with a arrival phase and welcoming song, where the mood of the children is gaged and where we enter the space together.
Then we explore many different songs, some through free movement, some with instruments, some with props and some through games. Some of the songs will be with lyrics, but many will be without. Some will be well known, and others original. Instruments are always included in a class- but it always changes which ones.
Then together we end with a goodbye song.
How big are the classes?
The maximum class size is 6-8 children.

What is Gordons Music theory?
Gordon’s Music Learning theory is that children can learn music exactly how they learn a language- by being immersed in its complexity. We don’t teach children to read straight- we talk to them. They are allowed to play and explore the language. When they then learn to read, it’s built on comprehension. This weekly space allows the children to become familiar to the language of music, to its building blocks and to be able to play and explore it through their bodies, reacting and interacting to it freely. Building musical memories.
The focus of my classes is on introducing the language of music: hearing different melodies, rhythms, tempos, dynamics, time signatures, modes, and expression. Together we create a space where the children can listen, explore, react and interact to music freely.
